Chicago rail ramps, turn times at 6 to 7 hours: Consider Indy Rail Ramp option

Our Cargo Services team is managing flip issues and wait times of about seven hours at Chicago rail ramps due to chassis shortages. As a result, surcharges are being reinstated by truckers starting Freight forwardertoday June 19. In the past, we have seen others implement fees up to $250, and we are keeping up on the situation to assist customers with Chicago-bound cargo.

UP Global 4 is also a problem. Congestion and chassis shortages are causing delays with containers being grounded to be made available. We had a container arrive at ramp and not become available for six days.

Consider using the Indy Rail Ramp with just a few minutes turn time
We are recommending using the Indy Rail Ramp for customers in the Mi

dwest. Truck turn times at last report are at about six minutes. If you’d like to discuss this option for your cargo call Cargo Services at 800-645-0386.
