Belgian trade unions have called a national 24-hour strike to begin this Wednesday, Feb. 13 after disagreement on a framework wage agreement for the next two years. The Christian, socialist and liberal unions are unhappy with the decision by the Central Council for business to limit wage increases to 0.8% in addition to the automatic index rise to compensate for inflation.
The strike is expected to impact flights. Brussels Airlines had cancelled all of its 222 flights scheduled for Wednesday. Flights scheduled to land Feb. 14 coming in from North America or Africa (departures Feb. 13) will operate.
