Books for Youth: Helping Hoosier foster children

img_0022Last week our Cargo Services team joined Colts Center Ryan Kelly hosting about 40 foster children and their families for a Books for Youth event. Our company is the title sponsor of this statewide program that supports foster youth. This annual December distribution event, in partnership with the NFL Colts and the Indiana Department of Child Services, gives foster children a backpack filled with 25 age-appropriate books–something to call their own. “In Indiana, there are some 22,000 children in the foster system who have very little to call their own. Giving this gift during the holiday season is priceless,” says Steve Fugate, CFO Cargo Services.

Now in its eleventh year, Books for Youth provides Hoosier foster children backpacks filled with 25 age-appropriate books. To date, the Books for Youth team has collected more than 805,000 books for this program and distributed more than 8,250 backpacks to foster children in Indiana.
